Intercultural
Online Documentation Center
Long Term Goal
Our aim is the creation of a multilingual intercultural online knowledge
management system that is totally browser accessible, to be permanently a
part of the SIETAR website, a regularly updated source for information on
intercultural research, publications, tools and other professional intercultural
resources for SIETAR members and guests. In every case SIETAR member work
and contributions would be highlighted as part of an overall effort to enhance the
profession of intercullturalist and demonstrate the work and accomplishments of
SIETAR Membership.
History
The project began with a project managed by George Simons (SIETAR Europa)
and Heidi Graefer (Young SIETAR) for the SIETAR Europa Vienna Congress in April
2002 where computer stations with the ‘Intercultural on-line Research Centre’
home page, presenting a categorized collection of links to various kinds sites
such as on-line training and consulting, tools and instruments, SIETAR member
websites, etc. During the Congress delegates could at their leisure, consult this
home page and explore the various contents, try our demonstration materials,
links and activities, etc., ad libitum, at these workstations. Volunteers were
available to assist and, if necessary, troubleshoot the workstations.
Current Status
The Intercultural Online Documentation Center remains online so that SIETAR
members and visitors to the site can continue to access it. SIETAR members and
guests are invited to send addresses of links, documents, tool or instruments they
have created or know about, their own professional intercultural site, as well as
their favorite intercultural sites, on-line learning programs, games, activities, etc.,
to the host. They are encouraged to prepare a short paragraph reviewing each
listing. All entries and links will be dated and scheduled for periodic review for
accuracy, and relevance.
Technical and procedural
notes
This site is created in MindManager
4.0 software, using DreamWeaver 4.0 to edit
and re-post the site as necessary. A search engine will be added.
