Welcome!
This
year we'll be offering you a new experience in personal and professional
growth: a radically innovative and interactive congress
- where
you will be part of the making
- where
you will get to define your future in intercultural understanding and practice!
At
traditional congresses you spend most of your time listening to other people talk.
Often you end up with not much more than you'd get from reading the proceedings.
Often you go away feeling like the time to network with your colleagues was far
too short.
But
at this congress, presentations will be made only on Wednesday afternoon. (We
know that some of you are required to give a paper in order to attend). Then for
three days, instead of listening to plenary speakers, panels, and people talking
at you, you will get to do the talking, aided by expert facilitators
How
will it work? In small groups, and rotating from group to group,
- you
- with
other leading European interculturalists
- and
representatives from the businesses, governments and agencies that may need your
services
will
share expertise, experience and ideas on this year's theme:
COMMUNICATING
& COLLABORATING ACROSS BORDERS IN THE 21ST CENTURY:
NEW
LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND STRATEGIES
In lively,
often surprising, and very energising ways, you will jointly develop
your future as an intercultural professional. What is more, you will
begin an ongoing process of online knowledge sharing and creation
to exchange your discoveries with others. This process will be open
even to those who will not be able to attend the congress in Budapest
(places are limited!).
For an
overview of the theory and practice that is involved, we have prepared
a short .pdf
that you can view online or a powerpoint
presentation that you may download.
We
look forward to sharing this empowering experience with you.
