Call
for papers
The
Steering Committee for the 2003 SIETAR Europa Conference invites proposals for
online presentations and workshops. You may submit as many sessions as you like,
but you will be responsible for moderating the discussion process for each submission
as well as for editing it for publication in the SIETAR-Europa e-journal according
to the style sheet to be furnished.
Formats
Presentations
or "papers" serve to report intercultual research, field work, experiments,
experiences, theoretical elaborations, as well as the development of intercultural
training techniques and the like. They should begin with a brief (50-150 word)
abstract telling readers what is of major interest in the presentation.
The
Committee will post all papers received in the Forums
& threads area. Posting does not mean that the paper will appear
in the definitive compilation of peer-reviewed conference papers that we plan
to put on line as an "e-journal". Posting is simply a way to give authors
feedback on their paper, through online discussion, questions and answers. The
discussion of presentations will close one week before the Budapest meeting.
Online
Trainings are usually showcases that illustrate interactively a particular
technique. They can also be online activities for the purpose of imparting perspectives
and skills to the participants. Online Trainings may be limited to a specific
number of participants and should specify a specific starting and ending date.
Forum
supervisors
Each
of the major themes or forums will be supervised by an individual or team who
will coordinate and assist the presenters in their presentations and workshops.
The names of the Forum supervisors are on the Who's
Who page of this site.
Moderators
Presenters
are responsible for moderating their own paper or online training, though they
may choose and appoint another person to this task. The task involves timely presentation
of material for discussion, setting the starting and ending dates of the period
of discussion, actively monitoring and guiding the discussion, summarising the
discussion at its conclusion, and if the volume of discussion warrants it, on
a regular basis throughout the duration of the session. It is also a very good
idea, particularly to get your session started, to make a direct invitation by
e-mail to specific members whom you think will be interested in your topic or
process.
Forum
themes & threads
You
are invited to use the mind map or the Table of Contents on the Forums
& threads page in proposing a topic. The forums and threads listed
there are meant to be a source of inspiration and a way of organising the conference,
not a limitation. Please feel free to write on related areas that are not listed,
and we will integrate them appropriately.
Language
You
may conduct your session in any language(s) you choose.
Deadlines
Papers
for discussion and proposals for online trainings may be submitted any time between
January 1st and February 28th. They go online when the "2003 SIETAR-Europa
Virtual Conference" opens on March 1, 2003, and must be summarised by May
14, 2003, one week before the Budapest Conference, where presenters (if they choose)
can summarize the debate and answer questions face-to-face.
Submission
